News TFal Steam Iron
I just bought a new TFal Steam Iron. I went to buy a Rowenta iron but saw this one that was much cheeper and had a teflon plate so thought I would try this one. I did not know that TFal made irons. Has anyone used this brand of iron.
My Rowenta still works but the shiny plate has burned on goop and I have tried everything but have not found anything that will clean it. Need help.

Was not aware that Tfal made an iron. Thanks for that heads up. As to cleaning your Rowenta...there's a product called 'iron off' or something similar available in (usually) grocery stores, Walmart, Target, etc. It comes in a toothpaste like tube and you squeeze a blob onto a rag and with your iron at it's highest heat setting, iron over the goop until the soleplate is clean. Have used it a few times and it's very effective.

If the gunk on the bottom of the iron is really bad, I have used double or tripple ott steel wool and lighter fluid if the stuff is sticky. Of course you can only do this on a steel plate iron. I will barely warm up the iron and lighter fluid will take off the sticky, don't press too had as to keep from scratching the plate with the steel wool. That is why I use a FINE steel wool. Try just a small place to start with. Has worked for me in the past.
