My school is hosting a "Relay For Life" even in May and I want to form a team. The reason I want to organize a team is due to losing my Grandmother (maternal side) to cancer back in 2003 and my Aunt Renee who has stage 4 cancer. When I was younger I didn't really understand what was happening to my Grandmother and even now I don't really understand what is going on with my Aunt, but if I am able to help raise awareness and money to help those with cancer, then I feel that I am taking a step towards understanding.
My question is, how should I go about recruiting a team and fund raising?
I know that I have to have a team of at least five and that each person is to raise $100... so what would you suggest for fund raising?

I guess I always did a simple pledge per lap/mile. Is there something that each of these ladies loved that could be a spring board? Example my team was Maisy's Daisies in honor of my aunt and flower seeds went to our pledge donors. We picked a variety she loved and divided up seed packets so donors could grow a plant in their gardens.

I think that a Quilt to raffle off raises more money than an auction. Sell tickets a $1 each or 6 for $5. WalMart is usually pretty nice about allowing you to set up a table outside their door for Charities. Go to the kids Baseball parks and also sell raffle tickets. You could make a quilt made from baseball fabrics for this. Ask if you can set up a table at the gate to sell tickets. Hit up businesses. I wish you the very best of luck! Another thing that goes over wll at Baseball Parks is to sell purses made from ball fabics.
