San Francisco shops?
Folks, I will be going to Oakland/San Francisco in December. Do any of you know of any good stores with a selection of fashion fabric? I am in an area with nothing but Walmart or Hobby Lobby fabric within a 3-5 hour driving distance. I would like to find some beautiful unique pieces. Any help you could give would be greatly appreciated. I have a really nice quilt shop about 35 miles from me that I want to help keep open so I'm looking for fabric to make clothing.

Maybe try Discount Fabrics? I've never been to their SF location, but the Berkeley location has a whole bunch of clothing fabrics, and the prices seemed really reasonable. I'm not a garment sewer, but I was there with a friend who is and she was super excited about what she was finding. I know they have at least one SF shop, maybe two.

Go to Britex Fabrics. They arent' cheap and haven't been there in years but it is definitely something to see even if you don't buy anything. There are 4 floors and when I went they had fabric floor to ceiling. I had a friend who went a couple of years ago and she did end up getting a couple of batiks.

There is also Stone Mountain & Daughter fabrics over in Berkley (you can probably take the BART). Unfortunately my favorite shop up in that area ThimbleCReek closed although I don't get there often anymore.

It has been years and years since I was in a large fabric store. I'll probably walk in and freeze due to way too many choices. Lol. But I have to admit I'm looking forward to that part of the trip. Thanks for all help and suggestions!
