My Grandmother gave me to pearls of wisdom that I remember. When asking how old she was she would say,
"I am as old as my tongue and a little bit younger than my teeth."
The other one was when one of the 5 of us younger one would push the other and fall and be crying she would say,
" Which one of you broke my floor."
That made us all shut up fast. Who would want that responsibility?

Oh, my! So many familiar sayings from my mother and grandmother. My mom used the 'you can catch more flies with honey than with vinegar" meaning if you want something be nice to the person rather than being mean to them and you're more likely get it. However, I never saw my mom do a lot of that. My grandmother said "If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all" and she really live that. I never heard her say an unkind word about anyone. Even when they pretty much deserved it.

When my dad was teaching me to drive, he always said "You can drive on the top half of the tank as well as the bottom and you are less likely to run out of gas."
My Mom always said "Don't cry over spilt milk - just clean it up."

When I was whining about other drivers my Dad said, " You can only drive one car at a time." Also "drive it till you park it." A GF heard that one. She was close to an accident, was shook remembered that and checked her mirror, just in time to react and avoided being hit.
Grandpa said, "never put anything in your ear smaller than your elbow" ???? huh??
