Small business day
Don't forget that Saturday is SMALL BUSINESS DAY! Be sure to spend some time at your LQS!
Sadly, two stores in my area have recently closed, and I intend to spend some time at my favorite shop this weekend to be sure they know I appreciate their presence in my life!

I just called my favorite LQS and they're doing something for Small Business Saturday! Although the owner didn't want to announce what, as she said she likes to keep it a surprise for early birds. That's fine by me. I was going to go to a shop much farther away that I knew was having a sale, but this is much closer and more convenient. And I really do want to support them!

Yeah!!! I wish there were more small businesses by me. I'm doing a handmade Christmas. BF is buying a few gifts but I'm making just about everything. If I can't make it, I will be buying it from a local small business. I found a few local places online of shops that do crochet hats and such. They are so backed up and I can't order anything(what a bummer). I now have to learn how to crochet an owl hat.

I shudder to think our LQS would close! DH drove me through traffic today to get to our LQS for a fantastic sale they were having-B1G1 yard free! On the way there, a man was putting up a temporary sign on a corner that said Going Out of Business, up to 70% off! It was on the corner a few blocks from the LQS and my first thought was the shop. Horrors! I told DH I hope it wasn't the quilt shop, as my mind was racing reading the sign and thinking about the 50% off sale. Thankfully it isn't, but sad another business is closing. I certainly did my share today in keeping our LQS going.

It does seem to be a world of mega-marts these days. Yesterday we went to Junkee's--a local shop that sells funky clothing, crafts, dishes and oddball stuff. We also went to Mill Ends, which sells cheap fabric. It has been years since I had gone into the last one because it is in a strange part of town and looks like a crack house, but there were crowds of people there.
