Started Pilates today- anyone else do it??

My oldest son is an artist but artists can't starve so he became certified to teach Pilates.
Today was my first session with him and it was amazing.
He has the table and a room set up for his clients in his home.
I did fairly well considering all I really do is yoga and gardening, occasionally ride my bike.
Just wondered if anyone else does this. I've heard a lot about pilates but never did it. I'm psyched! I am going to do it once a week.
I'm seriously so relaxed right now I could fall over! And our session was 4 hours ago :D

i do! (well..when i actually show up there haha)
i love it..
not a fan of just the "mat" classes, but love the reformer.
does wonders for your body
you will notice a difference in just a few weeks!

I don't practice it, but I know what kind of benefits come from it! I keep meaning to work it into my workout routine. It would definitely improve my running (and there is a lot of room for improvement!). Everything you do can be improved with Pilates--even sewing! If your core and stability muscles are strong, they don't tire as easily, meaning fewer aches when you've been hunched over your work all day.

Kitsie, from my first session I can tell you that it involves massage, exercise, breathing deeply. I didn't do any floor work yet. The table is a big padded thing with all kinds of contraptions (can't think of a better word) for strength training but with Pilates you don't isolate like you do with machine work at the gym. You use your core muscles. He was able to assess where I was tight and worked on that. One thing that amazed him was how flexible I am. I've done a lot of yoga so maybe that's why. Pilates is not new, it's rather old, but seems to be very popular today.
I believe it's important to have a person trained in Pilates to prevent injury from what I've read about it, long before my son had an interest in it.
I remember taking care of patients who did Pilates before surgery and they recovered much faster than those who didn't That first started my interest in it but I didn't pursue it until my son trained.. The day after he received his MFA he started training for this!

I wish there was a Pilates class anywhere close around here.. I miss it.. My lil one and I use to do mommy and me Yoga and they had Pilates. it was sooooo fun and what a workout!!!!!

I go to pilates mat classes which are great. I love it, but it's probably so good because the classes are small and the teacher is always checking we are doing it right. I've never tried the reformer...maybe one day :)
