I'd like to warn everyone about putting in doggy doors. One of my friends just emailed me telling of her own house burglary. While she was away, someone put a small child through her doggy door and robbed her house, then stuck everything in HER car that was locked in the garage, stole the car too. I think they opened the garage door manually.
If you have a pack of Dobermans or wolves, okay, but do lock the doggy doors or not put any in if possible. Most folks seem to forget them when they go on vacation or even just out to the store.

Good warning!! I have an elderly friend that this happened to. They have collies, so the doggy door is a large one. A man crawled through the door into their house in the middle of the night. My friend's husband happened to get up to go to the bathroom and discovered him. The burglar ran and didn't steal anything, thank goodness, but it was terrifying for them.

We had Dobermans, but no doggy door. They were inside most of the time anyway, but when they went out they stayed out till we wanted them in. Or they came in when the kids opened the doors!
