We did it!

We dropped our fourth and last child at college yesterday and officially have an empty nest!! Can't believe this day actually came.
I moved earlier this month to NC for a new job and DH will still be here in NY for a while before he joins me, so I guess we have two empty nests right now. DH remarked on the way home from the drop-off yesterday that he always assumed empty nest would mean he and I in it, not him all by himself!

Best of luck on the next adventure in your journey through life together!
DH & I empty nested 15 years ago, and it's been fun. Had time to travel, play golf, enjoy each others company, and now we watch our Grandson while his Mom (our daughter) works.

congrats ! I remember taking child 3 to college when I got home it was so quiet - motionless - just kinda weird at first. Believe you me it changes quickly. That was 8 years ago and now everyone has graduated - one masters and all married and a two year old grandson and a grandaughter due in Dec. It is now again busy busy; but a different busy. I always say a new chapter.
I hope your DH gets to join you soon; to start that new chapter.

For the first time in almost 29 years, it is just DH and I at the supper table some nights and it is strange. DD our fourth and last is just waiting to write her final nursing exams and then will be officially job hunting. She'll probably be moving out or at least working most of the time. DD#1 got me a "furry child" as pictured in my avatar. This will also be the first September that I have no one to send to school and I don't have to go either as I have retired. Now that's definately weird!
