What's your fav do-it-yourself hair color brand?
Thinking of taking a break from the salon and doing it at home, but it's been a while and now I'm a blonde (from my new natural shade of silvery white ) and was wondering what does the job without too much damage or peroxide.
What do you like?

The hair dresser used Color Charm on me for years, so when I started doing my own hair I used Color Charm with his exactly recipe. I was lucky because my hair dresser was a little dingy- he relied on me to tell him what to do with my hair color, half 6 and half 7 with equal about of developer and some cheap hair conditioner to keep hair soft. The conditioner in the mix really helps out, I use about a 2 tbsp after measuring the color and developer. It looks as good as when he did it.

I do my own and I use this brand because it is semi-permanent hair dye. What that means is, it lasts about 28 shampoos and it just fade over time and I don't get any nasty roots showing. So if you wash your hair 2 times a week it lasts for 16 weeks. It has a really nice conditioner that comes in the box and it doesn't damage my hair at all.

I like Nice and Easy. Hair dresser said for dark hair always use a shade of ash so each strand will have different shades of color. All one shade of color screams hair dye job for dark hair. He showed me to streak the color on my hair not do it like shampoo. Put more on the ends then the roots. It takes time but looks great. Wren shampoo is the best. The Tresemme keratin smooth shampoo and conditioner is the most like Wren you can buy over the counter.

I used to use Loreal Preference, but that was when I was dying my hair black, which is my natural color. Then went to red, then my new natural silvery white, then strawberry blonde and now blonde. I took the Loreal test and it gives a different type depending on whether you answer permanent or semi-permanent, but the colors were very close. Time to go look I guess.
