We had a similar scam in San Diego recently - the news reporter interviewed someone at the court house and they said they NEVER communicate via e-mail. They went into the reason why, but I won't bore you with it.
If you have a legal matter pending it is best to call your attorney directly or go down to the court house yourself. They may want you to forward the e-mail to them so they can track it.

Federal, State, County, or City offices do not corespond via email out of the blue; this includes the IRS. The attachments that come along with this type of scam can either be phishing for personal information which they can obtain a profit from or be destructive to your computer. DO NOT OPEN!

I've gotten that one before too. But I just had a phone call from a live person stating that her records show that we've had our security system for 3 yrs. now and they wondered how well we like it. I went along with her and told her it was great! (We don't have one)....anyway, she tried to sell me an upgrade on it, and after about 5 "No, thank you's", I hung up on her......

I never open any thing with attachments-I made that mistake once. I got a weird one on the 17th-If they did not here form me within 24 hrs I would be arestid. I'm thinking if this came from a real official office that they would know how to spell. But I've never broken any laws so I would not have opened it any ways.
