Many years ago I saw a quilting tv show where the woman had developed multi-colored plastic backs that pressed onto the smaller curved quilting safety pins. A local shop found them at a warehouse for me, but no one else over the years has ever heard of them. I find they save my fingernails when sandwiching a quilt (I also use a grapefruit spoon to bring the pin head back up to close it). Has anyone else seen them, and maybe know where to find some more?

I love those pin covers. They really do save your fingers from getting so sore. I bought mine at my LQS, and I've seen them in some of the quilting catalogs. They're called Quilters DelightŪ Safety Pin Grip Covers. Just Google the name and I'm sure you will find them. I also purchased the Kwik Klip, which serves the same purpose as your grapefruit spoon.

Although I haven't asked them in the last two years, when I did several years ago they had never heard of what I was describing. I shall look again, as I want to send them to other quilters. Thanks for the tip.

I do see them and they are exactly what I was looking for! I guess I have been away from quilting long enough that I didn't realize how much information I could find on the internet. Retired now, wondering how we lived before Google!
