Hi, my name is Valerie, from Sudbury, On. I have been sewing for more years than I can count, but just got into quilting in last several years starting with a quilting retreat which got me hooked. I have made quilts for the grandkids, and just finished a queen size quilt for my oldest daughter. Now I am ready to start a bargello quilt for my youngest daughter called the Cosmic Twist.
I have enjoyed reading all of the different topics, and learned a lot of little hints from the message board, so thankyou all for your comments.
Question: The quilt I am about to start has a finished size of 58x80, and does not call for borders. Naturally to make life difficult for myself I need to make it into a queen size and the quilt does not lend itself into increasing its size, so I can only do it with borders. Do you think it would look weird having a narrow border on the bed top and all borders as the drop. I plan on having one border made of strips of all 20 fabrics that the quilt contains. I would love to send a picture of the pattern but I have yet to figure out how to send attachments without losing my entire message (tried it last night, didn't work) Any comments or alternative suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
I am so happy I stumbled upon this web site.

It's great to get such quick response from some of you, thankyou. If I can ever figure out how to send pictures I will show my fabric options so I can get more suggestions on the borders. My last quilt took 3 years to make, so don't be holding your breath that you will see it anytime soon.
Actually once I finally got motivated, it took only a few weeks to complete, just in time for my daughters wedding.
I had to snicker when I saw my topic on the message board, it should have read "Greetings all, from a newbie."
My fingers apparentely have a mind of their own.
