Greetings from new member in NC

Hi, I'm Lisa and joined last week. Thanks to all of you who helped me with the t-shirt advise.
I figured I better try and follow some guidelines, of course I had to find the time to read them first. :)
I'm an experienced quilter and seamstress of over 40 years BUT have never had any formal lessons. I learned at the knee of my grandmothers and great aunts and aunts, well you get the picture. generations of beautiful handwork, I definitely feel blessed to share in that gift and ability.
I've never joined a message board or participated in any virtual community quilting groups. I've actually always wanted to part of a regular quilting bee, but as of yet have found none. I have started and assisted many successful prayer shawl groups tho, both in yarn and fabric.
We recently lost our home to fire (October) and so I have been very busy trying to make quilts as we wait to move back in our house, looks like April. Shopping for fabrics for window treatments etc. It's all fun and somewhat overwhelming. I think I'm over the depression of losing everything (ha if that's possible right?)
anyway, the little temporary rental is sweet, not very practical but fun. It's small. Good things too though, I got a new sewing machine. Another Husqvarna, technology and features have certainly come a long way.
THE MAIN REASON I'm posting is I'd like to know more about and play in the swaps etc. I read the rules and some of the groups, a little scared to jump in.
Could use some advise and encouragement.
A little personal information to share, it's just me and hubby, my son is in college. We have a spoiled dachtsund and two spoiled Tennesee Walking Horses.
Thanks so much for all of your time and kindness.

Welcome, waving from Indiana, USA. I am a beginner quilter and I haven't joined in any of the swaps yet.
You will find lots of nice quilters here and tons of threads to read.
Have fun!

Hello from Illinois. You will find everyone on the board to be friendly and helpful.
Any open swaps going on would be glad to have you. Look around and see what appeals that you have time for.
There is a signature block swap just now up and accepting people. It is a very simple block and we hope to get signatures from all over the world.
The Farm Block Swap is closed but the girls on there had such a good time there is talk of opening a Santa block swap. Watch the board for details.
The monthly quilting bee swamp seems to always have room for more
Check out the Block of the Month. You do those for yourself and just share pictures with the group.
Hope you have fun.
