Hi Jill, and welcome from Saskatoon SK Canada. I'm glad to hear you are back quilting again.
If your old machine works, that's all that really matters. You will find the one you want and eventually purchase it. I, personally, like to enjoy the process of quilting. Sometimes I get hung up on getting things done, but that isn't any fun for me. If I slow down and enjoy the whole process of making the quilt I'm happier. Most of my piecing is done on a 1950's machine, which runs like a dream. I use my newer machine for quilt retreats as it is not so heavy.
There have been so many changes to sewing machines in the past few years (eg. speed controls), so I hope you have a good look at what is out there. Shopping for a new machine can also be an enjoyable process.
Welcome. Hope to see some of your work soon.
