Hi all, my name is Mandi. I am married and have a four year old son. I am 24, and very well may be the youngest person on here, as I am on everything else, including the youngest parent at my son's school
I have a strong passion for quilting. Although I have never tried a quilt, but would LOVE to give my hand at it. I recieved my very first sewing machine for Christmas last year, but have been sewing by hand since I was a pretty young child. Usually I think of something I would like to do, and that notion passes within a couple weeks....But this quilt thing has stuck with me for a very long time (maybe a couple years). So I think it's time to give it a try.
For my first project, I really want to sew something for my sister. She was married last month in Coa-coa beach FLA. And would love to put photos on it, but have no idea where to start. One project I am sure is going to take a very long time, as I am in college right now and barely have time for being mom, school and wifey. Well then, sorry about all that rambling, hope to get started soon :)

Welcome from Ventura County California. What city do you live in. I have a sister-in-law in Valley Center and my son is stationed at North Island. My #3 daughter will be finishing her masters degree at Pt Loma returning in August.
There is a huge store called Rosie's Calico Corner down just east of Mission Valley. They have great prices and classes going on, though it may be too far for classes. There's a great little store in Poway too, though the name at the moment is escaping me.
This is a great place to ask questions and get great advice for every level of quilter. You are not the youngest, we did have a 13 yr old on here, though she hasn't posted that last couple months.

Hi and welcome from Colorado, Mandi. It makes me happy to see younger quilters - and you're not the only one. We have a few. I have to tell you, though, once you really start quilting, you'll be addicted. There are so very many wonderful, helpful and delightful people here and the pictures are always amazing. Glad you joined us.

I live in Carlsbad, just south of Camp Pendleton. I will be receiving my Associate in August and going directly into my Bachelors the next day. I will have my Masters in Business Admin with accounting and finance in August of 2011.

Good for you!! I work for an accountant, decided that I don't want to be one. Though I realize that your course in not for a CPA. My brother in law moved from Carlsbad 2 years ago. I beleive there is a little quilt shop there in Carlsbad too. Can't remember the name, it is on the Beach side of the 5. I am somewhat familiar with the area. Is your husband a Marine? My DH served 20 years in the Navy, retiring about 7 years ago and is now a pastor at our church.
