potatoe bag fires
#47
My bag caught on fire but I had used it many times. The next time I wanted a baked potato I put it in an oven mitt with the silvery colored fabric on one side and my potato baked just like it did in the bag and no fire.

Hi, and welcome from "on the road" in McMinnville, TN. Glad you decided to join us and give some public information. I have some bags, but I haven't had a problem. Don't know what they are made of however, as I purchased them at a LQS.

Before I made mine, I read into all the fire issues and 100% cotton is a must. I decided for myself that I would be extra safe and so I wet the bag, wring it out, and then insert the washed potato. This is almost like steaming it and still comes out just as fluffy. I also only set mine for 2 minutes, flip over, 2 minutes, flip over, until done. No fires yet and I keep a close eye out.
