Hello-I just stumbled onto this site and it fits me. I love to machine quilt and I love vintage singer machines. I have the 401 that is my workhorse but I also have a FW 222. It looks new with case and attachments. I bought it on line very reasonable for what it is, but I have to have a motor conversion to use it as it does not use 120v. I would love to have a hand crank machine. I want one that is very ornate so that I can display it in my home but I also want one that I can sew on. I found the discussion about the bobbins very helpful. I think that I want one that uses the round ones. I have a question. I am looking for one that has reverse and is ornate with the decals. The only ones I have found with reverse are of the less decorated variety. Do the more ornate ones (singer) come with reverse?

Welcome to the board. I also love the vintage machines and I have a hand crank. I could but don't use it to sew on. I just wish I had more of the spindle bobbins that it takes because I could sit and wind bobbins for it all day. I love watching the thread go back and forth across that little curved thingy.

Welcome from Colorado. I have a hand crank Singer and I do all my sewing on it. It's a model 201K. The best, in my opinion. They have the normal decals, not like the Red Eye. They do use the round bobbins. I also have two aluminum 201K hand cranks. I use those to take to classes. They are a little lighter in weight.
