From Texas

 Always got in trouble for rolling my eyes at my Mom - love the icon! I'm a novice quilter from San Antonio, Texas and am having a great time with it.
Jumped in with both feet and created my own templates for the design I wanted. The throw is almost complete - I see mistakes, but have learned a lot. I read a lot on the Internet before I undertook the project. Had no idea how rewarding it is to quilt.
My 8-year-old granddaughter is going to start a throw for her Dad that we hope to have finished by December. I have been teaching her to sew, so this will be great fun! Chose a very simple design for her to use.
Look forward to reading and learning from the Quilting Board!

My husband is an "eye roller" and he's so cute when he does it...usually does this only when he's teasing someone. You wouldn't believe our surprize (and delight behind a hand over our mouth) when our tiny granddaughter rolled her eyes like grandpa the first time when she was about 3! She's grown and married but she still rolls her eyes and uses phrases like "Oh! mom, you are soooooooo granddad!" when her mom, our daughter, is being too opinionated or ???

Hi Nina, I'm from San Antonio also. It's nice to read about someone from your own home town. Where in SA do you live? I live on the south side. On Mayfield Blvd. I hope you enjoy the forum as much as I have. I love to pick up ideas and new sites. I have also made alot of friends through the "Live Chat". Some of us have enjoyed talking so much that we have given each other our email address. Maybe we'll meet someday. Estella

Estella, I'm in on the northeast side in Windcrest. I would be pleased to meet you. My son lives on the south side close to Hwy 90, so I am out that way occasionally.
My personal email address is [email protected]. I don't check it daily, so sometimes it takes a few days for me to respond.
Right now I'm kinda tied up as I also do ceramics and display at the Poteet Strawberry Festival in April. Madly trying to get everything done when I'd much rather be quilting.
By the way, I found out that the only WalMart in San Antonio that is going to have fabric is the one on the Austin Highway (at least that is what they told me). I've stocked up on a lot of fabric at $1-$2 a yard from the sales they are having. Some of it is really cute. I checked labels to be sure I was getting cotton. Some of the labels say the fabric has "undetermined fiber content". I didn't get any of that - no telling what it is or how it will hold up. The New Braunfels, Tx and San Marcos stores have already closed down their fabric. I understand that the WalMart at New Braunfels Ave. and 1604 is almost out, too.
Give me a holler! Thanks!
