pieced binding and different corner
I found this link
http://quiltfabrication.blogspot.com...Fabrication%29
It shows a way to do a pieced binding that sort of blends into the quilt, and a way to do the corners to extend that look

Interesting idea. I don't think I would ever use it as seams in binding are always tricky anyway. I hate it when a seams is too close to the corner for a nice mitered corner. I usually pin the binding around the quilt perimeter just to make sure no seams land at the corners.

...maybe for something to be entered in a show? But for a everyday bed/lap, whatever quilt I too would worry about all those seams in the binding-as that is what wears out first.......JMHO. A good idea though

I thought this was such a great idea that I commented on the site and got a very nice response from the blog owner. How wonderful is that? I certainly wouldn't do this on a "drag around" quilt but on a wall quilt where it might be seen .... I would consider doing so. Thanks RugosaB!
