Sewing machines for new sewers
I have seen the request many times for inexpensive machines for new sewers/quilters, daughters/granddaughters. Costco currently has a Brother XR3340 for $139.99 thru Oct 27th. Not sure if they have to be purchased online or in store.

I think I would also go with Eversewn purchased from a dealer so you know where you can go for service, questions, etc. I visited some quilt shops in Colorado where they were having a charity sew-in and several ladies had Eversewn machines and they were very happy with them.

My sister bought her Brother machine through Costco many years ago and she is still using it. I did giver her a FW a few years ago which she uses as a traveling machine. I know several people that have the Brother machines bought at Walmart and are very happy with them. For someone that doesn't know if they are even going to like to sew I would hesitate to buy an expensive machine.
You could also invest in an old Singer that has been refurbished - they are heavy and have a nice stitch.

I have said on this forum many times that I am still using a Costco version Brother machine that is over 15 years old. I also have another one - a little newer and with a few more features. And a really basic one at one son’s house and a different low end one at the other son’s House and over the years none of them had any issue, didn’t need a dealer and no need to replace. I am intrigued by the Eversewn but I don’t need another machine. Mine work fine with any thread and have a nice stitch.
