That's a blast to the past! I have some of those socks in the original packaging under my stairs some place. The pattern might be with them, but I have saved a copy of this just in case it's not. Thanks for that great find. Sock Monkey has made a name for himself again! I am going to have to look for those socks now!

I just found an original pair of those socks in the package in my sewing room! Maybe I'll make a sock monkey for my sister, who confessed that she was afraid of the ones our grandma used to make. She's 48 and now receives sock monkey things for every occasion from our brother!

I made some many years ago, but socks are now so expensive. If anyone wants to donate socks, I'll make them to go with my dolls for sick kids. Bet they'd like to get them too. Especially the little guys. Just a thought. Send me a PM for my address if you want to donate the red heels socks.

Thank you for posting this. I had found a pattern online, but it wasn't as easy to understand as this one. Hobby Lobby carries these in both brown socks and blue socks. I think the price was 12 dollars and some change for a packet of four socks. I made my daughter a monkey and a kitty for Christmas using brown ones and it ended up being really good sized animals. I am pretty sure they are men's sized socks. A lot of kids seemed to like my daughter's monkey and kitty so maybe I will make some more using both blue for boys and brown for girls and give them as gifts. Thanks again for posting.
