So, basically a Tumbler quilt make into a rectangle?
Oops, not a rectangle, you actually deal with the Tumblers .

How big exactly do you want the quilt to be?
Everyone's queen-size is different.
How wide and tall is your Tumbler block?
A little division and you've got your answer as to how many "waves" you need across the quilt, and how many blocks long the wave needs to be. (Although you have to take into account the width across are made up of the widest and narrowest portions of the Tumbler.)

So, assuming you're using the same measurements for the Tumbler as that pattern - well, assuming first that is the pattern you're referencing ;) -
for a quilt 79"x96"
you would need 14 verticals waves (or different color fabrics - of course, some could be reused),
made up of 17 Tumblers long going down the quilt.
This pattern is growing on me. ;)

I actually think I am maybe calling it the incorrect name. Basically what I want to do is make a strip quilt with various shades of a few colors (green, brown and orange). When sewing it together I want it to have the colors go from light to dark. First the greens, then the browns, then the orange, then starting over with the greens again. I have a book on strip quilts but the directions are not very good. I will have to look up the book and let you know.
