1948 kenmore 117 959 ?

I'm looking for info on what kind of standard needle, size and or brand of needle is used in this machine. My search is coming up blank. Lots of machines no parts. I have the manual but there is no info on what needle to use.
I also need a bobbin case and bobbin for it.
I posted it in Bills Vintage thread and I thought if I double posted I might have better luck.
My GM machine and is very sentimental. Thanks for any help. UBE

You can purchase a manual for this machine that should have the relevant information about the needle, etc. in it:

If you have access to another machine, try the bobbin case from it. I think most old kenmore's used a class 15 bobbin case like Singer. If that is the right one, JoAnn's fabrics has them for less than $5. And the bobbins are inexpensive also.

There is no reference to needle size, and I think it is like all machine for regular sewing size 11 or 14. I do know the singer machine require using a singer needle, because there is a slight difference in the length, so I plan to use an organ size 75 or 90 which is a 11 or 14 size needle. I have included a picture of the bobbins that are to be used with this machine, and I have no idea where you might find them. I am sure your machine is very dear to you, mine is too. They are suppose to be wonderful sewing machine and I am anxious to get the cord replaced. Check on ebay, I did see an old 117-959 you might get some spare parts froms. Good luck

Anne, I happen to have the same problem. I appreciate your help with the pictures. they help me too. Is is possible that you can post a good pic of the bobbin case too? Have looking for one for almost a year with no answer. The thing is that I do not really know how it looks life for sure. I got the manual but i can't get a clear pic from it. I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks

Hi Teresa373. We just purchase this same machine today at a ReStore. The machine and cabinet is in unusually beautiful condition. We were just searching for a source for the owner's manual and came across this site. We will pull the bobbin case and post pictures for you as soon as possible. Do you know where to find an original manual?
Thanks !
Thanks !

I'd think a Kenmore would use a standard needle. Does it have a bobbin case, now? Take it to a good sewing machine shop. If they don't have it, they could probably order it.
