1960's fabric with large collie's as the border?

Does anyone remember the 60's skirts that were made from fabric that had cats, dogs etc as a border around the bottom? I would love to find fabric like this to make my 4 1/2 yr old gd a skirt. I'm limited on stores around here for fabric have to travel 120 miles round trip just to go to Hancock Fabrics. When Wal Mart stopped selling fabrics in our area it makes us travel to Jackson or Nashville for fabric.

Could you make the skirt, and then add a strip of a border print around the bottom? I think it would be darling for a little girl. i.e. These are bears, but you can understand what I mean. http://www.fabric.com/ProductDetail....b-565fd8a58cae

I'm chucking here--a long time ago a neighbor of my grandparents bought similar fabric for a skirt for her daughter. The daughter didn't like it so Joyce gave it to my grandfather (yes grandfather, a retired farmer) and he made a small quilt for my little sister. Now affectionately known as her "doggie" blanket, my sis has this memory of our grandfather. Thanks for bringing back to mind my GF's white head bent over his treadle sewing machine.
