3.5x12 strips
#1
I finally organized all my scraps (got cut in the process :( ) and now need to decide what to do with them. I have more light than dark. I have 3.5, 2.5, and 1.5 inch strips all by 12 long. I want something nice - but not too hard since this will only be my 2nd quilt.
Any suggestions? I look at quilters cache all the time - but get a little overwhelmed.

A string quilt would be cute and easy :D:D:D
Here is a nice tutorial, you can use either muslin or paper for your foundation. Using all of the various widths will give it a great look, too :D:D:D

The best pattern to use up scraps was by Sewing With Nancy and called Scrap Happy Quilts. It is no longer in print but you can watch it on QNNTV if you pay for it.
It is simply useing strips cut 1 1/2. 2 1/2, 3 1/2, 4 1/2 and 5 1/2 in.
Combine them in any order as long as they measure out at 6 1/2 in. Example use three 2 1/2 in strips to get 6 1/2 in.
A 5 1/2 plus a 1 1/2 = 6 1/2.
Then you cut your combinations into 6 1/2 in blocks. Combine into 12 1/2 in blocks.
The combinations are limitless if you cut the 6 1/2 in strips into differnt size combinations to get the 6 1/2 in blocks.
You will need at least 13 different fabrics.
It is the most fun to make quilt ever.

I think this is the one I am going to do. http://quiltville.com/4patchfurrows.shtml
But . . my size is a bit off. They turn out to be about 12.5 x 10.5. So now that I actually made a decision about what I want to do - with this "off" size, will I still be able to make the 1/2 square triangles to bring it all together? Or, should I maybe just put sashing between them . . ??

Those little sniglets - that is all I have left over from my strips!

Your blocks are very pretty!!!
You will just need to cut your pieces a little different. I will get you a cutting guide to use for your "off sized blocks"
You might want cut a few sashing strips to see how they will look when you get a few more blocks put together. Play with the layout and see if you like it, before you commit to a decision :D:D:D
