Any idea where I can find gila monster fabric
#1
Next up on the make-a-quilt-for-list is my mom's bf (which will show that I have (finally) accepted him as part of the family... yeah...) anyway, so we have a running family joke about a gila (pronounced hee-la) monster. I was wondering if anyone knew where I might find some gila monster fabric. I know that's more of a challenge than the usual fabric searches, but I would be grateful for any help! Thanks :)

Well, I see no one has come up with anything. Just a blank, so sorry ... I was thinking maybe you could make your own fabric by getting a stamp with the gila monster on it and stamp it yourself. It is something to think about. No one else has come up with an idea maybe now someone would...what ya think?

Funny. Not quite as easy as finding a rare dog breed. ;) ;)
So here's a potholder. I know, I know.
But.....

why couldn't you applique (sew/fuse/whatever method) this pattern to make your own gila monster? This particular image is pretty graphic, and if you make the background black, you could fuse the other fabrics to give it a scaly-like effect.
Just a thought.

I did a quick search (I was intrigued!) and came up with this cool site...If they make aprons (see bottom left for Gila Monster print apron), they must sell or know where you can get the fabric.
