So...I had a thread stuck in my featherweight. Decided to take everything apart and 'fix' it myself. Lost the gib screw and cried. DH helped me look and I did find it in the bottom of my full trash can. Now I'm having issues putting the bobbin case back in and have decided to take a break from the whole thing for the night.
Boy, do I ever appreciate my featherweight guy now. If necessary, I will visit him this week with the parts and pay him to really fix it.
I did get the thread by the way.
Thanks for 'listening',
lots2do (but too wrung out to do them now)

Oh, my goodness.
You were all so right. I just went up to try one more time and decided to move the hand wheel just a bit and the darn thing popped right in where it belongs. I can't wait to get home tonight and thread it up and give it a shot.
BUT, I don't know if I'll ever try that on my own again. It was an exercise in frustration.
Thanks for all of your support!
Happy sewing,
