Art quilters, please help: how can I fix this quilts?
This is a convergence quilt (Ricky Tims). The main piecing took about 1.5 hours. Now, MANY more hours later, I've almost finished quilting it. I still plan to do some FMQ in the appliqued parts, with metallic thread. One of the fabrics is Laurel Burch, and I did fused applique of some of the cool elements in that fabric. I expermented with some new FMQ designs, in different thread colors. i like them all individually (especially the waves in the lower right on the blue part), but I'm just not happy with the overall result. It needs something, but I can't figure out what. Does the lower left appliqued part need more separation from the rest? Maybe another outline of gold metallic? I've considered adding gold or yellow couching or bobbin work to outline the quilting of the sun rays to make that more prominent... would that help? I'm afraid to do too much more ... it is already quite busy. Actually, that's probably what bothers me about it. But, I must admit, it looks a little better in the photographs than I thought

I think you've looked at it too long! It is lovely. I love it. In my art training, every corner needs to be different. You have that I'm not an art Critique, by any means, but it is really, really pretty.

It's gorgeous!!
If YOU don't think it's "done" yet ... instead of looking at "what more can I quilt", perhaps consider embellishing with glass beads, buttons, embroidery stitches, dangling bits of fabric ... whatever. Think beyond the thread.
