Batting for donation quilts
I have been making quilt tops that will be donated to children in foster care and I will be quilting them myself on my domestic machine. Any suggestions about a decent, affordable batting to use? I don't mind eventually buying a roll for that use, but would like to buy a package to try first. I usually use Quilters Dream Select or W&N 100% cotton but if there is a more cost effective batting that will not be a real compromise I would love to try it. Thanks in advance!

I love Hobbs batting, they all are nice - and affordable. Dream Green is Great for kids quilts- it lasts and washes up well- very durable easy to stitch batting. I used it in my granddaughters picnic quilts 17-20 years ago- still holding up well.

I will give Hobbs Dream Green a look. The Fairfield has pretty bad reviews and I am using nice 100% cotton fabrics and want something that will last and not tear as I try to sandwich. It was really a matter of trying to stay in the $15 range per quilt for batting rather than $25. This is my good mental health, practice my skills, not worried about the cost too much but trying to be reasonable.

Did you know that Warm and Natural is 70% cotton and 30% polyester? It's written on the paper that comes with it.
The price of Hobbs 80/20 went up recently. The Hobbs poly down is a very good batting at a very good price. It gives just a little loft and is 108" wide.
I was given a few Pellon Cotton batts and really like them. Didn't know I could get it from Walmart. Will check that out!
