I have not, and the reason is because bias tape will stretch very easily. The only time I use fabric cut on the bias is when I'm going around curves.
Have you looked at the different blanket bindings that are available? That option might work for you....

I just saw a new quilter use packaged bias last night. Double fold. It looked fine. Squared up the corners. I showed her my clips, which beat straight pins any day. However, it takes little time to cut your binding, press it & off you go.

Dotty's right... cut your binding on the straight of grain, fold in half, and sew it 1/4" from the edge. there's been discussion here that you don't even have to press it in half with the iron. for speed, you can sew it to the back and use a decorative stitch to sew it to the front. i cut mine 2 1/4", but to be sure to cover the original 1/4" stitch line, you might want to cut the original 2 1/2 or more. good luck.

i believe a general opinion about using bias tape for binding is that it mght mot be color fast and it is usually made of a less quality than the fabric used in the quilt. I find it a bit awkward (if that is the word) to use as it already has the folds in the tape. I am not sure you would find it will take less time to use packaged bias tape and it certainly is more expensive. Now why do you need the bias. Only about 4 yds to the package and the ime you would take in pressing out some edges and working more carefully because it is on the bias, you can spend cutting your own.
Do you really need the bias?

you can buy pre made bindings here: http://www.popsbindings.com/
So much better for a quilt then the solid color bias bindings sold in the small packages.
