and, we think we have life so rough, eh?
Considering all our helpful tools, books, and fabrics, readily available, plus machines, our foremothers were an industrious lot, were they not?

[list] Thank you all for such wonderful information. I never knew you tube had such items. However, out in the prarie of Texas, they think Broad Band means there's a storm brewing. Dial-up was slow, but oh so worth it. Thank you to everyone. I look forward to showing the completed project.

Had you thought of appliqueing the piece to a solid background hexagon and then binding the larger piece? Binding all of those small hexagon edges would take a lot of time.
I did this with a table runner and it worked good

you are describing my own nightmare of a baby gift not ready yet.. the baby will be a 5 year old ( !) .. ok. exaggeration.. baby will be one soon and gift still not done.
My hexagons are 1 1/2 ins. this gives more turns.. oh my .. plus, I did not make my own binding but used the quilt binding from the store. it is STIFF !! Really STIFF!
The rounding does happen naturally .. because of the STIFF binding.. If I had to do it again.. and I will. I really like the quilt patis I have used. OK. have nothing to do with the product. I have Parkinson's. this helps me sew, easy quilt type of piecing and I can stay away from the sewing machine. I will plan on a rectangle final product next time.
Good luck.. these are fun quilts to make. I have used various colors for the "flowerets".. Really a fun quilt.. Just not the binding !!

PS.. your quilt it fun ! I like the large size. Never thought of that. Please, give us the rest of the story on how you finished this.
