Hello there,
I made a quilt like this, for my
Mom a few years ago. The birds
were painted on a white back
ground, so I sashed them together
with red fabric. It turned out nicely.
Anyway, she is happy with it!!

50 does not divide well except 5X10 (which is not a good proportion)
6x8 = 48 and you can add the remaining two in the border or the back.
if you would prefer a square look, then 7x7 =49 and that leaves one. Again the remainder can go in the border or on the back. On the back, you could make it the bird of YOUR state and incorporate it into the label.
Just a thought.
