Border/ binding drama
#1
I just pulled a gift quilt out of the dryer and look!!! The border came apart from the binding. It's all stitched up so ripping it out would be a huge job. It was suppose to be in the mail yesterday. Is there a easy, strong fix?

Open that and tuck the blue fabric back up in to it, then pick a pretty stitch design, make sure it covers a good 1/4 inch on the blue and the yellow and stitch all the way around your quilt. is will help in future washings. It also looks attractive.

It is a beautiful, cuddly quilt. Sorry this happened. I agree there is no magic fix. You will be glad you opened that part up so you can tuck it back in. If you don't, it will most likely keep fraying on each side of the mis-hap.
One of those things people who don't quilt never get to know or understand.

this is why i wash the quilts before they head out the house..i have had it happen to me too.
i would do it like hobo said to. that is what i have had to do. i used elmers school glue to hold it in place ,before i re-sewed it, with a decor stitch..

I would start at the corner and rip it back to an inch or so past the raw edge, then do the repair Looks like there is enough fabric there to be able to get it sewn back in place. then you wouldn't have to go all the way around the quilt with a decorative stitch.

Thanks ladies. I ended up opening it up and re-attaching the binding. The binding is kinda tight and pulls a little (ie. not excatly straight) but it looks like it will hold. I actually shed a tear over this... so darn frustrating!
