BQ3 focus fabric yardage?
Hello~ I will be making the BQ3 pattern (Maple Island) as soon as I can get to a LQS that has the pattern. In the meantime, can someone tell me the yardage to get for the main focus fabric for the LAP SIZE pattern? Thank you!

Now that is a hard question and almost impossible to answer. However, you say "how much.....until I get to the store and get the pattern" Why do you need to know before you get the pattern?
Having said that, I would probably get whatever the length of the quilt might be.......knowing that it will be more than enough Another way would be to try and figure out the size of the focus block, from the picture, try to determine the size and then multiply for the amount of yardage.
and it also depends on whether or not you are making the 18" blocks or the 6" blocks.

I n the meantime and if no one answers let me give you these clues to determining the amount of focus fabric you wll need. You say you are dong the lap size which is the 42x50 size.
The pattern appears to be constructed of squares. The angled look is created thru the angles of the black/white strips and the angle the blocks are put together. I counted 20 blocks which will probably be 9" finished since the 18" blocks will make a larger quilt.
If there are 20 blocks - there will be 3 across and 5 down.
If 9" then the blocks appears to be constructed in units of 3" If so then the black/white is a 3" strip leaving 6" for the focus. Focus square will be 6.5"x6.5" If 6.5" is divided into 42" (width of fabric then you will get 6 per 6.5" cut of fabric
You need 20 blocks. So will require 4 6.5 strips or 26"minimum of the foxus fabric to cut the 20 6.5 squars.
6 strips at 6.5 = 26"

Thank you everyone! I am searching the internet for a specific out of print fabric and if i came across it i wanted to act quickly. I am fortunate enough to have 4 LQS within 45 miles but none carry the pattern so may have to order That as well. Without having seen the yardage requirements on the pattern, i dont know how much fabric i would need to order. We'll get there!

Can you Google the pattern and read the amount of fabric you need for the focus fabric? I was able to bring up quite a few sites when I typed in BQ3 Maple Island Quilt Pattern.
