Brother se400 sewing/embroidery machine questions
I have absolutely no knowledge about embroidery machines. I bought the se400 and read the instruction manuel and watched the dvd but have not taken the machine out of the box.
SInce the hoop space is only 4x4" can you make bigger designs?
What if I want to make a quilt label that has 4 lines. Can i just input the info line by line and reposition the fabric? How much of a pain would it be to get things lined up properly?
Also, the design field seems to accept only about 5-8 alpha/neumeric characters at a time. What if I want to print a longer line?
Again, even after reading the info, I am still in the dark. I hope someone with some experience can answer my questions or it's going back to the store soon.
Thanks for any help you can give me.

you can learn to split the design. It takes a bit of practice to get everything lined up. you will need additional software to do this

I too, am a new owner of an SE 400. I love it so far but I've not used the embroidery part. I will be interested in following replies to this thread. A friend of mine bought it and didn't realize that it only did the 4x4, so she sold it to me. I like it because it because besides being a embroidery machine, it also sews. It has lots of different stitches that my other machine did not have. I would be interested in information regarding making quilt labels.

Patience & perseverance...4x4 hoop will give you many many stitching pleasures. You can upgrade to larger size later when you've become addicted!
