Use your best scissors only for quilting. Be sure to have other scissors available for paper cutting.

Have trained my husband and daughter to NOT touch my sewing scissors. I always had old cheap ones in a kitchen drawer for them to use. It worked!

I have a red fabric tag on my scissors (which I put my name on) which I use just for sewing....everyone knows not to touch...good scissors cost too much to blunt on paper.
