I have some old metal bobbins from an old sears machine and some from an old montgomery wards. both fit both machines. the only difference was the sears ones had a little bigger holes around the top. now my question..... I have a Janome DC2010. The only differences I see are the Janome ones are plastic and do not have the holes around the top (I do not know the purpose they served) but otherwise seem to be the same size. can the old metal ones be used if same size?

Your Janome is a new machine that cost you a lot of money and costs a lot to fix. If you need bobbins you should buy the Janome bobbins that are bobbins made for it. The few cents you might save using those old Montgomery Ward bobbins could cost you a lot more in repairs to your Janome and a lot of frustration when you can't used it. If you can't afford a few new bobbins, you maybe can't afford to sew.

thanks to all that answered my question. I was just curious if it could be done. in answer to the one who got her knickers in such a twist over if I could afford a bobbin....if you get that pissy over a simple question maybe you should take a chill pill.
