I have only been quilting for a couple years and already I have made two snowball quilts and two yellow-brick-road quilts. The snowball is fun and different and the road quilts use up a lot of scraps of various sizes.

With me it's not a favorite pattern as much as a favorite theme. I love star blocks and usually have one in progress for hand piecing on trips. After one hurricane (Louisiana) when our power was out for almost three weeks, my husband set ourcamper up on a generator in our driveway. Having a stack of blocks ready to piece is what helped me keep my sanity.

Scrappy for me are the favorite if I want something to do and it needs to be mindless, will start with a bin or 2 1/2 or 3 inch squares and just start sewing them together, only time I allow myself to color coordinate is if they are the same color going together. Otherwise I like to take all kinds of blocks and build as I go. My most used pattern is probable the Sidelights one, it can be used with any standard size panel or a good focal fabric and goes together very quickly. I also have many want to's on my list. Paper piecing is my next challenge to myself, this method does not come easy for me. English paper piecing however is very easy for me.

I really like to try lots of different things and enjoy creating my own patterns. But if I need something quick, I have made Bonnie Hunter's Star Struck pattern several times. It's easy, uses up my scraps, and I have yet to be disappointed with the results.

Guess I would have to say the "I Spy" - love the hexagon style, the patchwork style - even the rail fence version. My favorite is the one that make kids and adults smile and look at the various fabrics.
