I have a charming jelly cake of the Aviary collection along with 2 yards each of two of the fabrics and 3 yards of the large floral. I am just stumped with what to do with them! I kind of had a sampler in mind but I don't have any enthusiasm for that. I have done several online searches and only found one pattern.
Anyone know of some patterns for a charming jelly cake?

I'm looking there, will see what I can find.
I found one that uses a charming jelly cake on another site. It's interesting but it gives me ideas for my own design. The Aviary collection is very soft colors and I thought of a branch with bluebirds on it when I saw this one. I also have a small piece of the bird eggs from the collection that was in a grab bag I got. Maybe a nest for the eggs in the branches.

have you seen these blocks yet? i can totally see you making them one day. they might not be good for the fabric you have right now but i can see them in your future.
they do have blue birds but its not an easy thing to put together it all applique.
they were posted on the links board and i just fell in love with them.

Yep, I've seen them and I've been collecting them. They are gorgeous. Will make them someday, I'm sure. Thanks for reminding me too, I didn't have #5 and #6. Maybe they will give me some inspiration for the Aviary collection.
Are you going to do them?
The more I look at the blocks, the more I think it is perfect for Aviary. The layer cakes are big enough for the baskets and I could choose the 12 darkest colors for them. I just ordered 8 yards of a damask white-on-white so I have a background for them too.
Dang... I just don't know if I want to do that much applique and it would have to be by hand.

yes but i won't be able to get to them until after the new year.
i did pick out fabric from the stash and i set it aside with the patterns in the "to do" pile.
sadly the "to do" pile has taken over half of the counter top in the studio

It wouldn't be so much of a job to actually do one a month. Does anyone REALLY do a BOM each month as they come out??
I've been messing with this pattern for hours. Trying to keep it within the confines of a charming jelly cake is the problem. I'm still not there as I would need just 16 more charms for this layout. Actually not a problem since I have yardage in 3 fabrics of it too but it's irking me.
It's just.... plain. It would look a lot different with the design appliqued onto the center part though.

this design is charming and would look great with an applique in the center.
i was even thinking a vase with flowers and you could make the flowers 3D.
there's a really nice book on the market to make 3D flowers.

I ordered the book :) Also ordered one on machine quilting and learning applique the Piece O' Cake Way. I'm not too good at it and I could use learning good techniques.
This is the latest design for Aviary. Still just playing around.
