do mean "bedrunners"? the strips of quilts that fit over the end of the bed? If so, I don't know of any special size - it would depend on the pattern you choose - long enough to show off the blocks used and wide enough to hang down over the sides of the bed as far as you choose.

Cheater quilts as in the preprinted fabric?? ..........
....... or are you meaning those bed runner thingss that make absolutely no sense to me??
(other than to be a nuisance!!)
Now ... I'll probably get flamed by those that totally love them, but honestly, I just don;t "get" them!

Sorry, I'm not much help with the size but just wanted to say this........every time I see or hear about bed runners, I think about my Mom. She loved having the bed runner. She said she always wanted the runner to keep her feet warm.

There is a book available for bed runners. I wish I could remember the name but I believe they were about 30 inches wide and long enough to to fit the bed? Some went over the sides about a foot and some just went across the bed.

I love bed runners and they can be used on the back of the couch also.
My bedspread is made with batiks and don't have the storage for a lot of big quilts. So runners are great and they give you lots of practice with different blocks.
No set size just so they drape over the sides some.

Both of my kids have king size beds -- I want to get them spreads in neutral colors so I can make bed runners and smaller quilts to lay on top of the spread -- that would give me more opportunity to try all kinds of different patterns and designs without making a king size quilt.
