Chemical smell.

Chemical smell.
Has anyone had experience with a quilt still smelling of its spray baste even after washing? I have used this particular spray baste quite a few times and never had any concerns with it. I have made a teeny dolly size quilt using several layers of off cuts of batting to plump it up. These off cuts had traces of spray baste on them from months ago and now, despite washing the finished quilt, it still smelt of the spray baste. So much so that I decided to pull it all apart and replace the batting. Any similar experiences?

I would try sprinkling some baking soda on a table, preferably outside, then lay the quilt over the baking soda and sprinkle more on top, so it's sandwiched in baking soda. Leave it out in the fresh air for several hours. I was able to remove a very strong cigarette odor from some swapped blocks with this technique.
