Clipping squares for rag quilts before sewing together.
Well, I'm sure EVERYONE knew this but me, but sharing just in case. A friend shared a tip a friend had shared. After you make your squares and sandwich them with backing and batting, clip the edges for ragging BEFORE sewing them together. Gee, that was so much easier on my hands...I also broke over and bought the spring loaded scissors, since I seem to do several per year. I feel like, well, duh. All you have to do is cut the depth you would anyway.

There are even dies that will do the cutting for you. I don't own them, but I think they're a great invention. I make my rag quilts with 3 layers of flannel, no batting and no quilting. I love the spring loaded scissors, but it is time consuming cutting all the flannel after putting the quilt together. I'm just not sure it would help me to make the cuts before assembly, but if it helps you then that's great. We all find different ways to make quilting more enjoyable.
