My daughter is getting married this summer. She has asked me to make a "country " quilt as a wedding gift. She wants darker colors - rusts, browns, blues, greens, etc. I need help with a pattern. What do you consider a "country" quilt?

If it was my daughter (I don't have one) I would choose 3 or 4
patterns that were in my skills comfort zone and ask her to choose the one she likes best. The words "country" bring to my mind the traditional quilts I grew up with. Just my 2 cents worth.:)

I agree. I also think of designers like Thimbleberries or maybe Kim Diehl.

Country and darker colors make me think of homespuns. Maybe a strippy quilt made with an assortment of homespuns. Like erstan947, I would recommend that you show a sample to your daughter before investing a lot of time and money, just in case that was not what she had in mind. If you are like my daughter and I, my interpretation of what she elaborately describes to me is frequently way off the mark.
