D9P question
#1
Should any of the pieces intersect when laying out the D9P? I saw a video and they said they shouldn't but I've seen it done with so many different looks I didn't know if there was a rule to make it be a true D9P. Help!

My little bright pieces that had been the center square would have touched if I hadn't using sashing. Put D9P in the search box and look at the possibilities. There is no set way to arrange your cut up blocks.

I have made a couple and love them because they are so easy....I'm not sure if there is a true D9P but I have made both of mine so that there are as few inserections as possible.....why match up points when you don't have to...if it still makes a great quilt....am just about to start another for my daughter as a christmas present.

You can arrange them any way you want. I prefer to swap the opposite corners because I like the secondary pattern it creates.
Here is one I am working on. I used the same turquoise batik for all the center squares and many different black/white/gray prints for the rest of the 9 patch. When I swap out the opposite corners, the turquoise forms a secondary pattern.
Play around with your blocks until you find a pleasing arrangement.
