Do your fabric tastes change like mine?

I'm flipping through my latest Hancock's catalog. I've mostly been a traditional calico girl. I've always loved the Moda's. The batiks here have really grown though I've only played with them. Don't like to rinse them so much. The civil wars have gotten so much more popular. Used to be about 4 pages for them now there is about 14. I've played out my civil war craving, even got a movie on it! And the fabrics they are doing now where the colors look painted on are fabulous! But lately my eyes are drawn to the modern brights of Amy Butler and designers like her. I've even been passing on (selling) my claicoes so I can buy some of these brights. Amazing because when I first saw them I immediately didn't care for them. Maybe this is a common occurrence of the aging process? Do your tastes change like this too?

Yes, I have never like the black and white quilts. Now that is what I'm drown to. I want to make one. I have the fabrics now to get them on my to do list. I have 3 have to quilts then the black and white moves up to the #1 slot.

Well, I started out buying calicos, and now I really don't like them at all and don't use any of them anymore. I've always loved Batiks, but don't tend to use the ones that have lots of different colors in them. I love jewel tone fabrics and metallic gold.
I took a Hand Dyeing Class today, so who knows what direction I'll be going in next. One thing I found really neat was you can overdye storebought fabrics. So buy a black on white print, and dye it a new color, ( instead of the white area). I'm excited to try that, since there are lots of black on white prints out there.

Yep mine have changed ... and then changed back. I shed some fabrics I thought I would never ever use again. Then started making some scrap quilts .. some of those I thought I would never have used and gave away would have found a home in the scrap quilts.
I guess I just like fabric... of all types.

Mine change quite a bit, especially in colors. I used to like Moda, but now I think most of it looks like it has been dulled... like a shirt that has been washed too much. I really like softer colors now, whereas I used to buy all brights and bolds. However, one thing that hasn't changed is my intense dislike for Amy Butler fabrics.

My tastes have been pretty stable at 1800s repros and tone-on-tone blenders for about 14 years now. Not to say I don't like other things, I do, but these are my go - to fabrics most often.
