Dresden

My Dad is on a cycling holiday at the moment, he flew to Strasbourg last week with his cycling buddies and they are doing a circuit that takes in Germany, Czech Republic and Poland. He rang yesterday and they were in Dresden.
I knew there was something to do with quilting and Dresden, so have been googling away, thought some of you may be interested in a bit of quilting and general history, if you weren't already aware....

Just goes to show how biased my history lessons at school were...we learnt all about how England was bombed in WW2, but I never heard about the Dresden bombing...

My ex husband worked for a multinational but German-based company and once, the English members of staff were taken on a visit to a museum in Dresden and were quite pointedly shown a display depicting the city before and after the bombing... yes, ONLY the English members of staff!

Sadly, when two countries are at war, often both countries suffer devastating damage to its people and infrastructure. If this hadn't ocurred to you, then perhaps your history lessons could have been a bit more unbiased.
