easy way--cornerposts on borders.
#1
Would someone please tell me an easy way to get the measurements correct and add cornerposts with strips for borders. I know it has to be easier than what I have endured!
I did it a long time ago, and it seemed sooo simple. Now, after the long "recess" I can't remember how to do it!!
Thanks for taking me out of my misery!
Mariah.

I sew the sashing strips to the sides and sew the row together. Assuming that the blocks were square and all things are reasonably even, I sew a row of sashing strips and corner blocks. Each strip is the width of the block and each corner stone the width of the sashing. I take great care when I press the rows so the corner blocks nest into the row. I pin-pin-pin and sew both rows together. Hope that helps.

If there are cornerstones at each corner, don't I still have to make an allowance for the cornerstone at the end of each sashing?

Thanks for your reply. I feel more than a little dumb. Last night late I got out my Carol Doak book, and she showed the very step I am on--very clearly. Don't know why I didn't think of that several hours before.
Thanks so much.

Thanks to EVERYONE for your replies on my very elementary quilting question. I just came up "Blank" on how to do it. I did it just today, following everyone's directions, and it was so easy, and it came back to me from my previous times of sewing borders.
I felt REALLY dumb when I realized I had a Carol Doak Book which showed the picture and it was just like what you all said.
Thanks again, everyone!
