EQ5 question - borders
New user here!!
I chose 2" borders for my quilt. I can tell it's 2" finished size because when I remove a border on one side the quilt gets 2" smaller. I tried to click on the rotary cutting instructions to verify but it won't let me.
In this case, it's a simple border so I can do the math to cut the fabric, but is there a way to view the rotary cutting instructions for more complicated borders?
I've looked over Rhonda's tutes and the EQ manuals but I guess I'm missing something.
Thanks!!

I guess it's different in EQ5. When I click on a block in the same quilt, I can select the rotary cutting instructions. But when I click on the border, the rotary cutting bits cannot be selected.
Thanks!
Thanks!

if you chose a mitered border, rotary cutting won't be available. try changing to long horizontal or long vertical borders and check just one section of the border. you should be able to see rotary cutting instructions in the EQ5. i choose preview instead of directly to print so that I don't waste paper. I always choose preview by the way.

Long time since I used EQ5, but even with EQ7 I have only been able to print the total quilt, not sections, and yardage used. Thought only the block sections can be printed for templates, rotary cutting or foundation piecing.
Dunster & Nancy, I never knew about this, must try it out, later. 'course I don't read instructions much either.

Does it make any difference if you look at the layout without the colouring in?

Woow.... huge picture, sorry! But this is an EQ picture I have of Kansas Troubles. When I click on just the plain border it does not give rotary directions, but if I click on the little corner star block which is in the border, it does give the option for all types of cutting.
I seem to remember needing to call something a block before you could get the rotary cutting for it.... but haven't worked on it for a long time.
