depends on the shape of the swatches. They usually are the same width but different in length. I usualy cut the width into increments to use up the entire width. For instance if they are 12" wide, I might cut into 6" width and then sew from end to end and make strippy type quilts. Fast and Easy. I find usualy that the swatches are not very useful to me unless I need a mixture of fabric or a little bit of a specific color. Scrappy type works good. I got a group one time that were all about 3"x5". I just sewed them end to end and separated by a solid color and made strip quilts. Looked great. Dont sweat it over a dynamic design but rather the best way to use up what is there

Some of the material is heavier than others. Every piece is a different color. Some of it feels like it is thick enough to redo cushions on chairs. They are basically the same size about 12 inches. I do not have a lot material just starting out. I am unemployed and really do not have the money to buy more so I thought I would use this material for now don't want to waste not a single piece with the price of material.
