Hello Everyone!
Well, I got my Joann flyer last night and noticed they are having a FQ sale. $0.96 each! So of course, I'm already thinking of a new quilt!
I want to try and make the Double Irish Chain quilt from quilters cache: http://www.quilterscache.com/D/Doubl...ock_Page3.html
However, I have no idea how many FQ's of each color I would need to make, say, a 60"x75".
Can anyone help me out with this?
Thanks!

by my calculations (and we all know how great my math is haha) this is what I came up with:
Color one - 8 FQ's
Color two - 5 FQ's
Color three - 14 FQ's
And also by my calculations, it might possibly be cheaper to buy yardage instead! haha
Does anyone have any great FQ patterns?

Well, with FQ's you may end up with more waste, and needing to buy extras. If it were me and I could find yardage I would probably go that route, especially if I were only using 3 colors. In the flyer do they have a 50% off coupon too? 50% off one of the lengths would help drive down the price of the other two....

I remember reading in a different post that members had a lot of trouble getting the sticky wrapper of their JoAnn FQs. If you decide to go that way, make sure and try if the labels come off without leaving residue.
As for the amount: Do you know how much yardage is required? Each yard = 4 FQs. Just do the math.

Thank you for your advice. I will look into that first before purchasing. Thats a good tidbit of information to know!
And thanks for the one yard = 4 FQ's....thats also good to know :)

Also with JoAnn's FQ's it's not a full 18"x21". The ones that I bought and returned were around 16.5"x19".
If you buy the yardages and have many coupons, depending on who's cutting and at the register, they will use all the coupons on one transaction. I would ask first before cutting.

ok..I have tried to figure out the yardage I need for each color and I cant seem to get the math right.
Has anyone made this quilt (the double irish chain) that can tell me how many yards I need for each color?
Thanks!
